Join us for a discussion on methods in wild animal welfare science at the 2026 International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE) conference. This emerging field aims to understand and improve the welfare of free-ranging wild animals through accurate assessment methods and interventions.

In this discussion led by Janire Castellano Bueno, Researcher at Wild Animal Initiative, we will introduce the significance of wild animal welfare science (WAWS) and its intersections with animal behavior. Participants will discuss possibilities and challenges in transferring behavioral indicators used in captivity to a wild setting. We will finish by sharing how WAWS could be integrated into your work.
