Wild Animal Initiative will host a session on wild animal welfare during the RedCIBA conference, bringing together researchers working on wild animal welfare and captive animal welfare science.
The session will open with a plenary talk by María Díez León from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, who will provide an introduction to the field of wild animal welfare and its emerging research landscape with her talk: "Investigando el bienestar en animales salvajes: ¿por qué y cómo?"
This will be followed by Wild Animal Initiative Researcher Janire Castellano Bueno, who will present her talk, “Investigating associations between judgment bias and other affective state indicators: A way to advance wild animal welfare science?”
The session will also include a brief overview of grant and funding opportunities for researchers interested in wild animal welfare, including an introduction of Wild Animal Initiative’s new grants program.
In addition to these contributions, other researchers working on wild animal welfare and adjacent fields will be presenting during the session.
