Wild Animal Initiative is pleased to host a workshop at Behaviour 2025, exploring the intersection between behavioral sciences and wild animal welfare science (WAWS), with a specific focus on research from the Global South. Wild Animal Initiative is offering a small travel grant for one individual with a strong interest in the emerging field of WAWS to support their attendance of the workshop and conference.
Information and eligibility
A maximum grant of $1500 USD is available to cover registration fees, travel and accommodation costs, and in-country expenses.
Applicants are encouraged from early career researchers based at institutions in developing nations, with limited access to alternative conference/ travel grants.
The successful applicant will usually receive their funding after the conference and should retain all receipts and other proof of payment in order to claim their grant.
Funding is conditional on conference attendance, and attendance of the WAWS workshop during the conference. We also encourage the applicant to join the WAWS research community managed by Wild Animal Initiative.
Applicants from any country that is eligible to receive funding from a US donor are welcome to apply. (You might wish to consult this list of United States sanctions, which provides some guidance on ineligible countries.)
Successful applicants will receive a visa letter if needed. Please inform us of any visa requirements during the application process to allow sufficient time for processing.
